For mobility and if you don't need stellar specs, just get an Asus Eee PC 1000H, MSI Wind, Acer Aspire One or if you can afford it VAIO TZ series. For gaming, i suggest you look at reviews. But for gaming, you should get a core 2 extreme and at least 2 GB of RAM and at least a 256MB Graphics processor.

compaq presario c 700 is the best, very compact user friendly.

no demerits its great to look very sexy.

you have lot of configuration.

This is only to share my experience using IBM: One unfortunate day i spilled a whole cup of very hot tea on my IBM keyboard. It shut down automatically...i was frightened it would break. I got it dried for a day and the next day i tried it on again and it bloody worked like nothing had happened. Well...only one tho...after a week the sugar dried completely and they made cracking sound whenever i typed. LOL. It still works completely OK until now

Sony has some preety awesome systems but the price is also preety high. If however you can afford them then you wont be disappointed.
